Pitch Perfect: Let Us Critique Your Ideas

Pitch Perfect: Let Us Critique Your Ideas

If you've been hanging around Upwrite for any amount of time, you probably know we love to spend our time and money (lol what money?) on writers: developing them, cheering them on, giving them a platform on which to unwind their stories and cultural observations. It's the best, and it's why we're here.

It's also no secret we're pretty big fans of making the internet great again (but don't worry, we aren't into #fakenews accusations). So we'd be pretty selfish if we hoarded all you DOPE (shout out @haltheyounger) writers for ourselves, wouldn't we? That's why we're super excited to try something new: an e-mail pitch clinic, just for you.

We're no experts, but we've been pitching story ideas to print and online publications for a while now. And we've been rejected (or ignored) enough times to know by process of elimination what editors like and what they don't. So here's what we have in store:

For twenty-four hours, we're opening up our email to your pitch ideas for ANY publication. You send us what you want to write about--ideally a thesis statement on your topic--and we'll critique it for you so you can feel more confident sending it off. No clue what your thesis is or where you want to send the idea? No worries, we can help. And if you're lucky, we may even be able to connect you with an editor who's hungry for an article just like yours. The best part? No cost, no catch, no rules.

Think of it as a little boot camp to prime you creative warriors for the trenches of the internet. What are you waiting for? Email us your best (or worst) ideas at upwritemagazine@gmail.com, and we'll do our best to get you where you wanna go.

Lots of love,
Ashley & Kate
